Restore Buxton Colonnades

Originally a group started to petition for some of the HAZ funding awarded to Buxton to be spent on cleaning and restoring our Grade 2 Listed historic colonnades (and explore reinstating those the council has historically lost, scrapped or sold), this campaign began to explore some of the other issues with lack of maintenance and repair around town.

Think dollops of Tarmac sloshed into holes in our York Stone pavements (once you see it, you cannot unsee it).

Think the beautiful Victorian ironwork in the park and on our pavements – lamps, bridges, railings, benches – all greening, rusting and falling apart.

Despite liaising with both the HPBC and the Buxton HAZ team, we have as yet been unable to get confirmation that town infrastructure is being maintained appropriately (rather than cheap, out-of-character substitutes being used where the old infrastructure needs replacing). But we will persevere.
